Recent Exhibitions & Highlights

Indalo Eswatini Exhibition – Alliance Française, Mbabane (24 Oct - 6 Nov 2025)

Indalo returns home to Eswatini, combining the 2024 and 2025 Paris editions. Hosted at Alliance Française de Mbabane and supported by the EU Delegation, the exhibition celebrates Eswatini’s craft heritage through interactive sessions, pop-up shops, and collaborative showcases to foster creativity, sustainability, and market access for local artisans.

Paris Design Week 2025 – Tihlangu tekukhanya

During Paris Design Week 2025, Vuna Africa exhibited with the Indalo Crafts Collective, presenting Tihlangu tekukhanya; a sculptural candleholder series hand-carved with Mnqobi Mnisi from Swazi soapstone. The show explored the theme of regeneration, reimagining cultural symbols of protection into contemporary objects of light, peace, and renewal.

3 Days of Design, Copenhagen

At 3 Days of Design in Copenhagen, Vuna Africa showcased the Tihlangu tekukhanya candleholder range under the Indalo Crafts Collective. Created in collaboration with Eswatini sculptor Mnqobi Mnisi, the collection reflected the festival’s “Keep It Real” theme; celebrating authenticity, material honesty, and slow craftsmanship through hand-carved soapstone forms that bridge ritual and modern living.

Coming soon: People’s Design Week, Johannesburg (23–27 Oct 2025)

A cross-border showcase connecting artisans from Eswatini, Mozambique, and South Africa, Threads That Bind celebrates the shared heritage of African design through handcrafted objects, weaving stories of culture, sustainability, and creative exchange. Vuna Africa will also join the Pecha Kucha session at the French Institute, sharing our journey in material storytelling and artisan collaboration, alongside live workshops and a curated pop-up store.
